Job Summary
Design electrical and control systems for overhead cranes and related lifting equipment, create schematics and wiring diagrams, specify components such as VFDs and soft starters, develop crane motion control logic, perform load calculations and commissioning, ensure compliance with CMAA, NFPA 70/NEC, and ASME B30 standards, and provide field support, troubleshooting, and documentation to drive reliable, safe material-handling system performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related technical field or equivalent industry experience
- Three to seven years of experience supporting overhead crane systems through design, installation, maintenance, or controls engineering
- Strong knowledge of CMAA crane classifications, motor control systems, hoist, trolley, and bridge motion controls
- Familiarity with conductor bar systems, festoon systems, pendant controls, radio remote controls, collision avoidance systems
- Ability to create/read/interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Experience with VFDs, soft starters, and motor protection systems
- Ability to design control logic for crane motions (hoist, trolley, etc.)
- Ability to ensure compliance with CMAA, NFPA/Nec, ASME B30 standards
- Experience with electrical load calculations and power distribution analysis
- Excellent troubleshooting and collaboration skills
- Willingness to travel to project sites (occasional)
- On-site work in an industrial manufacturing setting
- Strong documentation skills and reliability-focused mindset
