Job Summary
Respond to assigned work orders for installing, inspecting, and maintaining fire alarms, life safety systems, sprinkler systems, MATV, and intercoms. Troubleshoot corrective measures, replace faulty equipment, and perform inspections, testing, and certification of these systems. Prepare work logs and reports while adhering to OSHA standards and WCPSS safety procedures. Maintain a safe work environment in indoor and outdoor settings, operating hand and power tools with up to 50 pounds of force. This role requires a valid motor vehicle license and completion of safety training within twelve months of employment.
Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge of life safety, sprinkler, fire alarm, MATV, intercom systems, and communications equipment and fixtures
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel; Google Apps
- Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance and repairs on of life safety, sprinkler, fire alarm, MATV, and intercom systems
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, contractors, vendors, and external agencies
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of NC requirements
- Within twelve months of employment complete safety training according to OSHA standards
- Must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, contractors, vendors and staff members of external agencies
- Work is considered heavy physical work, requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force
- The ability to operate automotive equipment
- Must be available for evening and weekend requirements on a rotational basis
- Position is not available for a hybrid telework workweek
