Job Summary
Originate residential mortgage loans for Columbia Bank's Community Reinvestment Act initiatives, focusing on low- and moderate-income families in Brooklyn and Staten Island. Solicit applications from home buyers, realtors, and community groups while assisting customers through the application process to closing. Deliver personalized support to community groups and counseling agencies, and prepare seminars for first-time home buyers to expand market visibility. Establish relationships with local charitable and nonprofit organizations, cross-sell bank products, and monitor emerging CRA issues for senior management. Maintain current knowledge of federal and state lending regulations and local real estate trends. This hybrid role (3 days in office, 2 days remote) requires five plus years of CRA mortgage sales experience and a valid driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of lending regulations
- Must be knowledgeable of the methods and procedures for promoting and marketing of products and services
- Established relationships with local referral networks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deal effectively with customers, attorneys, realtors and other financial institutions as well as all levels of Bank personnel
- Excellent decision making and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent organizational, follow-up and time management skills
- Strong computer skills and experience utilizing laptop technology
- Successful completion of the required background checks
- obtaining a Unique Identifier from the NMLS
- Valid Driver's License
- Professional demeanor
- Five plus years of CRA mortgage sales experience
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in residential mortgage sales preferred
