Job Summary

CPU Micro-architect to join Samsung’s SARC/ACL teams to shape next-generation OoO CPU cores for AI, HPC, and edge devices. Responsibilities include exploring new features and optimizing microarchitecture, improving IPC and power/area efficiency, modeling and validating performance against silicon data, refining core pipelines, branch prediction, prefetching, and cache/TLB hierarchy, and evaluating ISA extensions (e.g., vector extensions, memory safety features, security enhancements). Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration, develop performance models and micro testbenches, and analyze simulation results to drive performance improvements. Requires 10+ years with BS, 8+ with MS, or 6+ with Ph.D. in CS/engineering; deep knowledge of CPU microarchitecture, Arm/x86/RISC-V ISAs, Verilog/SV, C++, Python; strong modeling, benchmarking, and problem-solving skills. Total Rewards include a base pay range of $151,000–$251,800, relocation eligibility, and comprehensive benefits.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or 8+ years with a Master’s Degree, or 6+ years with a Ph.D.
  • Extensive background in CPU microarchitecture design (pipelining, superscalar design, cache hierarchies, coherency, multi-core systems)
  • Strong experience in performance analysis, modeling, and optimization
  • Familiarity with Arm ISA (Armv8/v9) and extensions, or x86 and RISC-V
  • Proficiency in reading and writing hardware description languages (Verilog/SV) and programming languages (C++, Python) for modeling and simulation
  • Ability to correlate simulation performance results with hardware metrics (cache misses, TLB misses, pipeline stalls)
  • Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, interdisciplinary environment
  • Experience with performance benchmarks (GB6, SpecInt17) and real-use cases like games and web browsing
  • Experience with developing performance models and micro testbenches
  • Willingness to work on SB/AMD-like CPU microarchitectures and SOC integration
