Job Summary
Operate High-Resolution Site Characterization tools, including SCPTu equipment and VST, for environmental site investigations while performing routine maintenance and organizing equipment logistics. Collect field data, compile daily logs and photos, and prepare final reports for submission to engineers or clients. Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, including pre-job preparation and immediate reporting of incidents or near misses. Communicate equipment needs and field observations to supervisors, manage mobilization in hard-to-access environments, and perform other shop functions as required. Complete a pre-employment fit-for-duty test and criminal record check. Based in the Chicago area with travel to North America, this role offers exposure to construction, infrastructure, and mining industries within a small, growing team.
Required Qualifications
- Previous field experience as a CPT (Cone Penetration Testing) Operator
- Class A or B (with air brakes) commercial driver's license
- Clean driving record
- Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, moving heavy materials up to 50 lbs., climbing, crawling as well as walking on uneven ground, working long hours in all weather conditions
- Strong mechanicals skills
- Excellent note-taking skills
- Microsoft Word and Excel familiarity
- College degree in engineering, geology, or related field
- Must possess a strong work ethic and professionally represent the company
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Must be responsible and work well independently or in a team setting with minimal supervision
- Must enjoy working outdoors and travelling for extended periods
- Must enjoy performing a wide variety of duties and be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Strong decision-maker with the ability to work independently in remote locations
- Must be able to safely complete the tasks associated with this job position
- Must take a pre-employment fit for duty test, including a drug and alcohol testing
- Must complete a satisfactory criminal record check
