CPS Technical Manager

Job Summary
Act as the primary technical expert for CPS Operations and Sales, ensuring maintenance, installation, repair, and commissioning are delivered safely and efficiently. Attend site surveys to assess technical requirements, plan parts availability, and brief Service Engineers on project specifications and safety expectations. Manage the emergency call-out rota, provide technical guidance for complex escalations, and lead root cause analysis for warranty claims. Deliver small projects and maintenance works on time while building relationships with customers and suppliers. Develop technical procedures and standards to support operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification (or equivalent)
- Proven experience working with LV Switchgear or similar Critical Power equipment
- Strong background in electrical maintenance, service delivery, commissioning, engineering, or operational environments
- Previous experience in a Technical Manager, Engineering Manager, Service Manager, or similar leadership role
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and support operational teams
- Experience managing resources, planning workloads, and controlling budgets
- Strong customer-facing skills with experience resolving technical challenges and managing escalations
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, safe systems of work, and compliance requirements within an engineering environment
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Self-motivated, flexible, and detail-oriented, with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a Technical Manager, Engineering Manager, Service Manager, or similar leadership role
- Experience with Thermal Imaging/Thermography
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience conducting technical investigations and root cause analysis
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
- HNC/HND, NVQ Level 4/5, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Technical Services, Operations Management, or a related discipline
- Level 1 Thermography qualification
- A current ESC Card
