Job Summary
CPI Investigation Worker Trainee conducts child protective investigations (CPI) to determine if abuse or neglect occurred, interviewing parents, caregivers, reporters, and others; assesses safety and risk, determines actions to protect children, and may testify in court. The role requires interviewing families, coordinating with law enforcement and community resources, and preparing documentation. The position entails on-call rotation, travel to cases, and working in a mobile environment away from the office, with emphasis on maintaining objectivity, empathy, and cultural competency. Training and certification programs are offered, and the role supports ongoing professional development within DFPS.
Required Qualifications
- Accredited Bachelor's degree OR accredited Associate's degree plus two years of relevant work experience OR 60 accredited college credit hours plus two years relevant work experience OR 90 accredited college credit hours plus one year of relevant work experience.
