Job Summary

Teach District-approved curriculum and create a classroom environment conducive to learning for middle school students. Prepare lessons, guide the learning process toward curriculum goals, and establish clear objectives for units and projects. Motivate pupils to develop skills and attitudes while maintaining order and enforcing behavioral rules in harmony with administration policies. Assess student accomplishments regularly, provide progress reports, and evaluate academic and social growth. Serve as a floating teacher on a daily basis as identified by building administration, and remain available to students and parents outside the instructional day for education-related purposes. Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy.

Required Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in the area of major study
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in area of study
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons based on district and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and related software
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus
  • The final candidate for this position will be required (at their cost) to furnish the district with a current Michigan State Police and FBI criminal records LiveScan check prior to our recommendation to hire
