Job Summary
Courtroom Assistant in the Criminal Court Division coordinates courtroom proceedings and provides specialized legal clerical support for high-volume, fast-paced operations. The role includes preparing the courtroom for hearings, coordinating actions with the Courtroom Clerk, managing juries and jurors, assisting witnesses and attorneys, handling exhibits, operating e-courtroom equipment, managing calendar and case-related data in court systems (iCIS, OnBase, eFile), processing files, and maintaining clear communication with public and staff. Requires a high school diploma or GED and at least three years of relevant administrative experience; bilingual Spanish/English is preferred. The position may be based in Maricopa County and is subject to background checks and state retirement participation.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or GED
- Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience, preferably in a court or legal environment OR Combined Education And Experience Qualifications: An equivalent combination of post-secondary education may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
- Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities: Knowledge of court policies and procedures; proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel; iCIS, OnBase, eFile, multi-line telephone systems, copy machine; strong written and verbal communication; critical thinking; detail-oriented; ability to prioritize; ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
