Job Summary
Armed Court Security Officer responsible for entrance control, roving and stationary post security, escorts for judges and court personnel, traffic and pedestrian control around court facilities, and enforcing federal law within court environments under the USMS contract. Duties include operating security screening equipment, monitoring CCTV and alarms, preparing incident and performance reports, securing unattended courtrooms, and maintaining order during court proceedings. Requires a high school diploma or GED, 3+ years of verifiable law enforcement or military security experience with arrest authority, valid driver's license, DOJ clearance, ability to read/write/speak English, and ability to meet USMS medical standards. Must be 21+, able to pass drug screening and background checks.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- At least three (3) calendar years of verifiable experience as a certified law enforcement officer or its military equivalency (Master-at-Arms, CGPD, Security Forces Specialist, etc.)
- All three (3) years must have occurred within the last seven (7) years
- General arrest authority
- Valid driver's license from state of residency and a safe driving record for the past five years
- Must receive clearance from the Department of Justice
- Must have completed or graduated from certified Federal, state, county, local or military law enforcement training academy and be able to provide certification
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to understand, explain, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, directives, and procedures
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
- Meets medical standards as specified by USMS
