Job Summary
Course Coordinator for TOUR 1P91 - Introduction to Tourism. Responsible for overseeing seminar/tutorial/lab sections, coordinating Teaching Assistants/Lab Demonstrators/Marker-Graders, and assisting in the development of marking schemes and the marking of course assignments, midterms, progress and final exams, along with related duties as required by the course instructor. Requires a Masters or higher degree in Tourism Management (or enrolled) with strong knowledge in Tourism Management, demonstrated Excel and LMS (Sakai) proficiency, and prior teaching/marking experience is an asset. This on-campus position aligns with Fall-Wall academic terms and involves coordinating staff, meetings, and ensuring academic integrity. Required Qualifications
- Applicant must have or be enrolled in a Masters or higher degree in Tourism Management
- Applicant must have an average of 80% or higher in 2 undergraduate degree courses in the area of Tourism Management or an equivalent undergraduate course area
- Applicant must have strong knowledge in the area of Tourism Management
- Previous successful teaching and marking experience especially at the first year level is an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge in EXCEL and Brock University's Sakai-Based Learning Management System (LMS) or equivalent
- Demonstrated knowledge in marking on-line essays in PDF and other related file types
- Work experience in the Tourism industry is an asset
- Ability to perform the various duties of the position
- Available during normal office hours for group meetings
- Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
- Must be dependable and have strong time management skills
- Previous experience in coordinating and managing people is an asset
