Job Summary
Course Coordinator for SOCI 1P91 at Brock University. Responsibilities include contact with students (seminar switches in early weeks), maintaining running records of seminar grades, inputting grades by seminar and course sections, liaising between instructors and seminar leaders, managing miscellaneous administrative duties (filing/records), attending course-related meetings, assisting with submission of mid-term and final grades within university timeframes, calculating 1P91 grade averages, proctoring exams and late exams, proctoring in-class quizzes, collecting and posting contact information, assisting with management of student email, posting grades and contact information for seminar leaders, and other duties as they arise. Qualifications emphasize a Master’s or Honours degree in Sociology, LMS proficiency, policy familiarity, and strong organizational, communication, and inclusive-work skills.
Required Qualifications
- 1. Master’s Degree or Honours Degree in Sociology or equivalent.
- 2. Familiarity/experience with SOCI 1P91 as seminar leader or with other sociology courses at Brock or another university.
- 3. Available for blocks of time based on job demands (beginning of term, mid-terms and final exams).
- 4. Advanced proficiency with Brock’s Learning Management System or equivalent used at another university.
- 5. Demonstrated familiarity with academic policies and practices related to academic misconduct, Turnitin, accommodations, grade appeals, and referrals to student services.
- 6. Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel.
- 7. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and professionally with email to students as individuals and in mass.
- 8. Able to work within a climate of diversity and inclusion per Brock University policies.
