Job Summary

Course Coordinator for SOCI 1P91 Fall D2 at Brock University with CUPE4207-1 appointment. Responsibilities include student contact, manage seminar switches in early weeks, maintain running records of seminar grades, input grades by seminar and course sections, liaison between instructors and seminar leaders for grading meetings, miscellaneous administrative duties (filing, records), attending course-related meetings, submission of mid-term and final grades within university time frames, calculation of 1P91 grade averages, proctoring exams and late exams, proctoring in-class quizzes, posting grades and contact information for seminar leaders, assisting with management of student emails, and other duties as they arise. Qualifications include a Master’s or Honours Degree in Sociology or equivalent, familiarity with SOCI 1P91 or related sociology courses, advanced proficiency with Brock’s LMS, knowledge of academic misconduct policies, Turnitin, accommodations, grade appeals, and referrals to student services, proficiency with MS Excel, strong written/email communication, and commitment to diversity and inclusion. Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or Honours Degree in Sociology or equivalent
  • Familiarity/experience with SOCI 1P91 as seminar leader or with other sociology courses
  • Advanced proficiency with Brock’s Learning Management System or the equivalent
  • Demonstrated familiarity with academic policies and practices related to academic misconduct, phrase-matching software (Turnitin.com), accommodations, grade appeals, and referrals to student services
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and professionally with email to students as individuals and en mass
  • Able to work within a climate of diversity, displaying sensitivity to issues of race, sexual orientation, class and gender in accordance with Brock University sexual harassment policy
  • Equivalency will be determined by the course instructor, in consultation with the selection committee
  • Applicants must make a case that their qualifications are equivalent to those required above
