Job Summary
Deliver collected blood units from mobile drives to the Donor Center, ensuring proper handling. Retrieve and deliver supplies to blood drive locations while helping to set up and take down equipment. Process blood units as needed and maintain vehicle cleanliness and current maintenance records. Follow safety protocols and communicate frequently with others in a biohazard laboratory environment requiring personal protective equipment. Work variable hours between 5:00 AM and 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with schedules generally known three weeks ahead. This role supports transportation needs within the Blood Services department at ARUP Laboratories, serving over one million patients monthly.
Required Qualifications
- Variable Schedule (5 days per week)
- Monday through Friday (with occasional weekends as needed)
- Between hours of 5:00 AM - 11:00 PM
- Must be 21 years old
- Valid Utah Driver's License: 1)No moving violations within the previous two years 2) No alcohol/drug-related violations on record with the Driver's License Division
- Ability to pass a physical examination to obtain a Department of Transportation Medical Card
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
- Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Communicate: Frequently communicate with others
- PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies
- ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling
