Job Summary
Food Service Worker responsible for assisting with the preparation and serving of meals to residents and maintaining a clean, safe work area under supervision. Requires knowledge of therapeutic diets, relevant Ontario health standards, and OHSA/WHMIS compliance; requires shift-work availability and ability to read/write and follow instructions. Optional: completion of Food Services Worker certificate or related diploma/Red Seal status; prior food service experience is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Secondary School Diploma
- 6 months experience in food service and understanding of therapeutic diets
- Completion of the Food Services Worker certificate program or Post-Secondary diploma/degree in Food/Nutrition Management or Red Seal Program status
- Knowledge of Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Standards and ability to ensure compliance with these standards
- Fundamental knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, the Sanitation Code and related legislation
- Ability to read and write and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability and willingness to provide service that respects residents’ dignity and diversity
- Must be available to work shift work any day of the week and weekends
