Counter Sales Representative

Job Summary
Greet customers and contractors, answer product inquiries, and process sales transactions using the cash register and various payment methods. Facilitate product selections for showroom and walk-in clients by completing proper forms and creating accurate invoices, work orders, and sales tickets. Code customer orders and input pricing data into the computer system while maintaining correct cash levels at registers. Maintain showroom appearance and store environment by cleaning displays, dusting products, and managing stock levels on the sales floor and in the stockroom. Bag, box, or wrap merchandise as needed and perform physical inventory tasks. Safely operate forklifts, company vehicles, and other material handling equipment after required training, and assist with yard and warehouse operations including receiving, returns, and stocking. Perform location-specific services such as cutting keys, mixing paint, and cutting glass.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Acceptable motor vehicle record
- Ability to work Saturday and evening schedules as required
- Must be able to drive and walk throughout yards, plants and offices
- Computer literate with Microsoft Office products and Trend system
- Must be detail oriented and highly observant
- Must be able to multi-task
- Must possess good mathematic skills
- Able to use a calculator and computers
- Ability to read and understand blueprints
- Must be able to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal and customer relations skills
- Vendor knowledge
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, company vehicles, and other material handling equipment after completing required training and authorization
Desired Qualifications
- 1-3 years of building material knowledge and sales experience
- Knowledge of building materials, applications, related equipment, and/or construction industry
- Familiar with computer, printer, telephone, copy machine, fax machine, engineer's scale/ruler, mechanical tools, inventory, and inventory control
