Counter Sales Representative

Job Summary
Greet customers and contractors, answer questions about merchandise, pricing, and promotions, and process sales through the cash register using various payment methods. Facilitate product selection for showroom and walk-in customers, create accurate invoices and work orders, and input order data into the computer system. Bag, box, or wrap merchandise, maintain showroom appearance and store environment, and manage stock levels and physical inventory. Comply with all policies, safety standards, and company procedures while performing other duties as assigned. Work flexible schedules including Saturdays and evenings as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-3 years of building material knowledge and sales experience
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Maintenance of professional demeanor
- Detail oriented
- Highly observant
- Ability to multi-task
- Good mathematic skills
- Ability to use a calculator and computers
- Knowledge of building materials, applications, related equipment, and/or construction industry
- Good interpersonal and customer relations skills
- Vendor knowledge
- Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to read and understand blueprints
- Familiarity with computer, printer, telephone, copy machine, fax machine, engineer's scale/ruler, mechanical tools, inventory, and inventory control
- Ability to drive and walk throughout yards, plants and offices
- Computer literate with Microsoft Office products and Trend system
- Ability to work Saturday and evening schedules as required
