Job Summary
Counter Sales Associate at PDI responsible for assisting walk-in customers with product inquiries, processing orders, and providing courteous service at the counter. Key duties include recommending products, answering availability and pricing questions, processing quotes and invoices, learning and conveying knowledge of plumbing products, cross-selling related items, handling cash/credit transactions, coordinating with warehouse for order fulfillment, and maintaining a clean, safe counter environment. Requires strong product knowledge, sales and customer service skills, proficiency with POS/order-entry software, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail setting. The role emphasizes customer-driven service and contributing to branch sales and profitability.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Previous experience in sales, customer service, or counter sales, preferably in the plumbing wholesale industry
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with customers
- Excellent product knowledge and understanding of plumbing materials, fixtures, and equipment
- Proficiency in computer skills, including POS systems, order entry software, and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality in all aspects of work
