Job Summary
Counter Sales Associate at Baker Distributing Company handles the sales counter for HVAC equipment, parts, and supplies, delivering strong customer service in a sales-oriented setting. Responsibilities include interacting with internal and outside sales staff, vendors, and contractors; showroom merchandising and restocking; resolving customer relations problems; completing sales orders and up-selling; servicing walk-in and telephone customers; sourcing and shipping parts; inventory control and warranty administration; researching products via computer systems/catalogs/phone; organizing stock, maintaining safety protocols, and participating in safety training. Requires effective communication, knowledge of HVAC products, and the ability to work independently or in a team in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Minimum 1+ year experience in a Counter Sales role, preferably in the HVAC industry
- Knowledge of air conditioning, heating and ventilation equipment at a wholesale distribution level
- Strong interpersonal skills including sales, problem solving, and customer service focus absolutely required
- Ability to work independently but meet assigned goals and objectives in designated time frames
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with skills to multi-task at different levels
- Excellent customer service mindset with the ability to develop long-term relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong and creative problem-solving skills
- Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and understanding English to ensure full compliance with safety standards, training, policies, and procedures.
