Job Summary

Administer assessments, establish and revise individualized treatment goals, and formulate diagnostic summaries while documenting patient progress for Utilization Review. Conduct group therapy according to developmental stages, perform evaluations for potential admissions based on ASAM criteria, and facilitate discharge processes. Provide supportive individual counseling, address problematic behaviors, and maintain timely family contacts to ensure comprehensive treatment planning. Participate in case conferences, deliver lectures and workshops, and keep referral sources updated on patient progress. Maintain aftercare plans for patients in case of absence, complete all documentation comprehensively, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, Human Services, or other related field that includes a practicum in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting
  • Full certification in this state as an Addictions Counselor
  • Licensed in this state if a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to function calmly in a crisis situation

  • Flexible to sudden changes in workload, emergency or staffing
  • Dependable

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in the human services) or other related field which includes a practicum in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting
  • Current licensure in this Commonwealth as a registered nurse and a degree from an accredited school of nursing and 1 year of counseling experience (minimum of 1820 hours) in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting
  • Full certification as an addictions counselor

Desired Qualifications

  • Practicum in a drug and alcohol setting
  • Written training plan specifically addressing a plan to achieve counseling competency in chemical dependency issues
  • Experience in a drug and alcohol setting
