Job Summary
Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program at the assigned campus. Counsel students to develop academic, career, personal, and social abilities while addressing special population needs. Deliver structured group lessons, guide individual students and parents on educational and career planning, and provide preventive, remedial, and crisis counseling. Interpret standardized test results to inform goal setting and serve as an impartial resource for student conflicts. Coordinate school, home, and community resources to advocate for student groups. Compile and maintain all reports and records while complying with federal, state, and district policies. Maintain emotional control under stress and adhere to safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in guidance counseling from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas school counseling certificate
- Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students, parents, and district staff
- Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- May work prolonged or irregular hours
