Job Summary
Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program at an assigned campus. Counsel students to develop academic, career, personal, and social abilities, addressing special population needs through individual, small group, and large group sessions. Deliver structured group lessons, manage behavioral incidents, and serve as an impartial resource for interpersonal conflicts. Interpret assessment data to guide student goal setting and coordinate school, home, and community resources. Compile reports, maintain records, and advocate for diverse school environments while complying with federal, state, and district policies.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in guidance counseling from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas school counseling certificate
- Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students, parents, and district staff
- Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
- Maintain emotional control under stress
