Job Summary
Plan and implement a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program to meet identified student needs, including crisis counseling and consultation. Provide guidance to individuals and groups based on Individual Education Plans while monitoring student progress to assess placement. Guide students in acquiring new skills, exploring career possibilities, and resolving conflicts among students, parents, and staff. Serve on campus committees addressing student needs and compile data to determine eligibility for counseling services. Maintain all required reports, records, and documents in a timely manner while fostering collaborative efforts among staff to support the district's mission. Participate in professional development and stay current with educational research and best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- Texas Counselor's Certificate
- Texas Teaching Certificate
- Three (3) years of experience as a classroom teacher
- Knowledge of counseling procedures
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Effective organizational and presentation skills
- Ability to interpret data, federal and state laws and policies
- Basic computer skills
