Job Summary
Conduct patient intakes, initial assessments, and discharge planning while administering biopsychosocial evaluations and screening tools to determine mental health status. Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, and provide individual and group counseling addressing relapse prevention and peer pressure. Monitor high-risk conditions such as suicide or overdose, flag cases to medical leadership, and coordinate referrals to specialized services and community resources. Document all counseling entries and sessions in the EHR scheduler, observe urine sample collection, and attend required training and case conferences. Works Monday through Friday from 5:00 am to 1:30 pm as part of Pinnacle Treatment Centers' comprehensive addiction recovery program.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in a relevant field
- Registration/credentials necessary to provide counseling services to the patient population
- Bachelor's degree or High school diploma/GED with 75% certification education (Kern County requirement)
- Counselor registration/certification by a 'Certifying Organization' recognized by the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs
- Proof of registration by a State approved regulatory agency (DHCS)
- 2-5 years of experience OR Master level
- Certification as an Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor with a CA approved certification agency
- Current credentials as licensed, licensed eligible, or certified with the Board of Behavioral Sciences or the Board of Psychology
- License-eligible status with Board requirements maintained to practice
- Clinical supervision by a Board approved supervisor (if license-eligible)
