Job Summary
Counselor role providing orientation, intake, assessment, and treatment planning within Pinnacle Treatment Centers. Responsibilities include conducting intakes, discharge planning, initial assessments and treatment plans; engaging patients in treatment planning; administering biopsychosocial assessments; utilizing SNAP to develop individualized treatment plans; determining clinical necessity of counseling services; monitoring changes in patient condition and addressing relapse indicators; complying with QA and risk management policies; administering screening tools (BAM-R, C-SSRS, GAD-7, PHQ-9); coordinating referrals and communication with other practitioners; documenting counseling entries; participating in team meetings and trainings; providing individual and group counseling; utilizing CBT and Motivational Interviewing techniques; scheduling and tracking sessions; engaging in community relations and outreach; completing required training; and performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Counselor I: possesses an associate degree in a relevant field and has registration/credentials to provide counseling; Kern County requires a bachelor’s degree or high school diploma/GED with 75% certification education.
- Counselor II: possesses an associate degree in a relevant field or majority of approved counselor certification courses; license or certification needed; Kern County requires bachelor’s degree or 75% of required counselor certification courses; must have counselor registration/certification by a recognized Certifying Organization; 2-5 years of experience OR Master level.
- Counselor III: degrees must include licensed, licensed-eligible, or certified status; proof of licensure or certification required immediately upon employment; board requirements for credentialed practice; ability to maintain supervision; licensed or license-eligible with CA Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology.
