Job Summary
Counselor provides orientation to patients, conducts intakes, discharge planning, initial assessments, and initial treatment planning; develops individualized treatment plans using SNAP; administers biopsychosocial assessments; evaluates risk and relapse indicators; documents in accordance with federal/state regulations; coordinates referrals to services and community resources; utilizes CBT and Motivational Interviewing techniques, and facilitates individual and group counseling; participates in trainings and maintains licensure/certification requirements; supports a wide range of treatment modalities within Pinnacle’s OTP framework and contributes to quality assurance and risk management.
Required Qualifications
- Counselor I/II/III qualifications and licensure requirements as detailed in posting
- Associate degree in a relevant field or coursework toward counselor certification minimum; CA-specific requirements vary by level
- Counselor registration/certification with recognized certifying organization per DHCS requirements
- State-specific credentialing for California Alcohol and Drug Programs (CAADDP) per Kern County/district mandates
- 0-5 years experience depending on level (I: 0-2, II: 2-5, III: 5+ or licensed)
