Job Summary
The School Counselor provides educational, career, social, and personal counseling for all students under the supervision of the Principal and Vice-Principal. Responsibilities include implementing a comprehensive counseling program (classroom guidance, individual and small group counseling, crisis counseling, and consultation), coordinating the campus guidance program with administration and staff, guiding students in educational and career planning, attending discipline/attendance/academic review meetings, providing support to parents, maintaining confidentiality, upholding the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees, keeping student records confidential, and performing other duties as assigned to support the mission and vision of the Archdiocese of San Antonio Catholic Schools.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counseling or related mental health field (Licensure or certification preferred)
- Master’s degree in Psychology or Social Work with coursework addressing counseling theories, psychology of adolescence, career information and development, multicultural counseling, and vocational, academic and career testing
- Minimum of one year of experience in a school setting
- Valid driver license
- Reliable transportation
- Valid vehicle insurance
- Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening
- Must pass Texas DPS Fingerprint-based Applicant Clearinghouse screening
- Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills
