Job Summary
Provide short-term individual counseling for students experiencing personal, emotional, behavioral, or psychological concerns, conducting intake assessments and developing treatment plans. Assess and respond to mental health crises, making referrals to community providers or higher levels of care when indicated. Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential clinical records, including case notes and treatment plans, while consulting with faculty, staff, and the Lead Counselor regarding student care and referral planning. Participate in required trainings, Counseling Center meetings, and case consultations to support the residential college environment.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field.
- Licensed or license-eligible in the State of Iowa.
- Experience providing individual counseling.
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience counseling college-age students or young adults.
- Experience with crisis intervention.
- Experience using electronic health records.
