Job Summary
Counselor III responsibilities include assessing clients referred for substance abuse and mental health evaluations, making treatment recommendations, performing case management, leading group counseling sessions, providing individual and family counseling, supervising staff, and serving as a treatment-resource for colleagues. The role involves coordinating services, representing the Agency in involuntary treatment matters when directed, and performing other duties as assigned in support of addiction and mental health treatment and rehabilitation.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in field related to Human Services (e.g., Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Counseling, Rehabilitative Counseling, Counseling Education, Education, Criminal Justice, or Ministry)
- at least one year full-time experience in a mental health and/or addictions treatment setting
- certification as an Addictions Professional (CAP) by the Certification Board for Addiction Professionals of Florida is preferred
- extensive knowledge of addictions and/or mental health treatment and rehabilitation
- strong knowledge of causes, symptoms, and progression of substance abuse and mental health problems
- level 2 background screening
