Job Summary
Conduct evidence-based screening and assessments to determine client strengths, needs, and symptoms of withdrawal. Obtain relevant history from individuals and collateral resources to establish eligibility for treatment recommendations. Synthesize diagnostic impressions and provide appropriate referrals to ancillary services while matching client needs with community resources. Document counseling activities and progress notes in the electronic health record. Provide education on addiction consequences and support individuals in distress within an acute care setting. Interpret results to identify physical needs, medical conditions, and co-occurring mental health disorders. Apply knowledge of the Minnesota Model, Recovery Oriented Systems of Care, and the Florida Marchman Act for involuntary assessment and stabilization.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in field related to Human Services, which include but not limited to: Social Work; Clinical Psychology; Counseling; Rehabilitative Counseling; Counseling Education; Education; Criminal Justice; or Ministry from an accredited college or university
- At least one (1) year full-time experience in a mental health and/or addictions treatment setting
- Extensive knowledge of all aspects of addictions and/or mental health treatment and rehabilitation including familiarity with various models of treatment
- Understanding of various therapeutic techniques and approaches
- Ability to identify and utilize the most effective form of treatment with each client
- Strong knowledge base regarding the causes, symptoms, and progression of substance abuse and/or mental health problems
- Knowledge and application of evidence-based, culturally competent practice, including the Minnesota Model of treatment
- Demonstrates an understanding of Recovery Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC) including SAMHSA's 10 Guiding Principles of Recovery
- Knowledgeable of and can provide education to clients about the disease of addiction and related health and psychosocial consequences of continued use
- Demonstrates an understanding of the Florida Marchman Act and the judicial process of involuntary assessment/stabilization and involuntary treatment
Desired Qualifications
- Certification as an Addictions Professional (CAP) by the Certification Board for Addiction Professionals of Florida
