Counselor II - Family Intervention Specialist (Sebring)

Job Summary

Screen clients and family members referred by DCFS using standardized substance abuse tools, then participate in service plan development and coordinate linkages to treatment resources. Perform case management functions including maintaining records, conducting home visits, administering drug screens, and monitoring progress toward intervention objectives. Facilitate barrier removal for clients, provide monthly reports to DCFS Family Safety staff, and manage a discretionary fund for treatment completion with proper audit trails. Participate in ESI and quarterly staffings to monitor client progress. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Human Services and two years of experience in mental health or addictions treatment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in field related to Human Services from an accredited college or university, which include but not limited to: Social Work; Clinical Psychology; Counseling; Rehabilitative Counseling; Counseling Education; Education; Criminal Justice; or Ministry
  • at least two (2) years full-time experience in mental health or addictions treatment setting
  • certification as an Addictions Professional (CAP) by the Certification Board for Addiction Professionals of Florida
  • participation in a staff-training program
  • considerable knowledge of addictions and/or mental health treatment including types of programs, various therapeutic methods and techniques, and an understanding of the factors contributing to the development of substance abuse and/or mental health problems
