Job Summary
Counselor I at The Salvation Army Clitheroe Center provides individual and group counseling for substance-abusing clients, conducts crisis intervention, and develops and updates treatment plans from admission to discharge. The role supports recovery, requires knowledge of trauma-informed care and cross-cultural issues, and involves coordinating with probation officers, social workers, and other agencies. The position uses Intergy EHR, requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, and operates within a 24/7 residential program. Certification goals include Alaska CDCI within one year and CDCII within three years; a valid Alaska driver’s license is required. The role reports to the Residential Clinical Manager and is full-time, non-exempt.
Required Qualifications
- Must have or be able to obtain Alaska State CDCI Certification within one year from the date of hire
- Must be able to obtain Alaska State CDCII Certification within three years from the date of hire
- Acceptable criminal history, able to pass an Alaska state background check
- Alaska driver’s license with acceptable driving records
