Job Summary

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric crisis assessments, mental status evaluations, and provide stabilization services for individuals experiencing psychiatric emergencies. Determine appropriate levels of care, coordinate referrals, hospital admissions, and discharge planning while collaborating with hospitals, law enforcement, and community providers. Assist with Temporary Detention Order and Emergency Custody Order processes, attend hearings as needed, and maintain accurate clinical documentation. Work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Requires Master's degree in human services eligible for VA licensure (LPC or LCSW) and one year of psychiatric care experience. Join the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board Crisis Services team to deliver critical behavioral health assessments and intervention.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's in a human services field eligible for VA licensure (LPC or LCSW)
  • One (1) year of experience in a psychiatric care setting including counseling and crisis intervention functions
  • Eligible to register as a QMHP-T with the Virginia Board of Counseling within 30 days of hire
  • Pre-admission screener certification training modules must be completed within 30 days of hire
  • Must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation
  • Must successfully pass a DMV record check
  • Must successfully pass a Child Registry search
  • Must successfully pass a drug screening test
  • Must successfully pass employment reference checks
