Job Summary
Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program by delivering structured group lessons on interpersonal effectiveness, personal health, and post-secondary readiness. Respond to critical incidents using preventive activities and specialized crisis intervention skills while serving as an impartial resource for student conflicts. Create individualized academic, career, and social development plans for students and parents, interpreting standardized test results to guide goal setting and graduation planning. Collect and interpret testing data to inform program audits, campus improvement planning, and systemic changes. Supervise assigned counseling aides and administrative assistants while adhering to all federal, state, and district safety protocols and ethical standards.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in counseling from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas school counselor certificate
- 3 years
- Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students, parents or guardians, and district staff
