Job Summary
K-8 School Counselor duties include developing and implementing a comprehensive school-level guidance program aligned with ASCA standards, focusing on students’ physical, social, intellectual, emotional, and vocational growth. Responsibilities include individual and group counseling, coordinating guidance activities, serving as a consultant to the school and community, providing crisis intervention and prevention strategies, assisting with transitions from elementary to middle school, facilitating educational and career counseling, working with staff, students, and parents, upholding counseling standards, and maintaining confidentiality and records; the role may require after-hours work and site or home visits as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in School Counseling or National Certified Counselor credential issued by the National Board for Certified Counselors
- Current New Mexico Counselor license
- Must hold a current Driver’s license and Car Insurance
- Experience in public school teaching and/or related counseling experience
