Job Summary
Develop and implement a school-level guidance program focused on student physical, social, intellectual, emotional, and vocational growth. Provide individual and group counseling, coordinate guidance activities, and serve as a consultant to the school and community. Deliver educational and career counseling, interpret test results, and facilitate crisis interventions while maintaining strict confidentiality. Assist teachers in identifying students needing support, mediate conflicts, and establish contact with community resources. Evaluate the counseling program, determine priorities based on local needs, and comply with all Board policies. Work with minimal supervision, maintain detailed records, and perform any other duties assigned by the building principal.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in School Counseling
- National Certified Counselor credential issued by the National Board for Certified Counselors
- Current New Mexico Counselor license
- Current Driver's license
- Car Insurance
- Experience in public school teaching and/or related counseling experience
- Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions
- Ability to properly operate multi-media equipment including current technology
- Ability to work within various degrees of noise and temperature
- Flexibility and patience
- Self-motivation
- Ability to complete job assignments without direct supervision
- Ability to make site or home visits as needed
- Ability to work after hours
- Ability to work under stressful conditions
