Job Summary
Counselor duties in a long‐term adult psychiatric residential program include intake interviews, group, individual, and family counseling, treatment plan development and implementation, discharge planning, and coordinating activities with clients’ therapists and related programs. The role requires maintaining clinical records, performing minor household tasks, and navigating stairs with occasional weekend and overnight shifts. Strong communication skills and experience in community mental health are preferred; a Bachelor's degree is desired. The position is based in San Francisco, CA, and may require fingerprint checks and health screening prior to employment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience in residential treatment and/or knowledge of social rehabilitation is preferred
- At least 1 year experience in a community mental health program is preferred
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Basic word processing skills
- Must demonstrate maturity, good judgment and emotional stability
- Must be able to negotiate stairs and lift/carry 20 lb multiple times per shift
- Valid California driver's license and insurability is preferred
