Job Summary
Clinical counselor role providing counseling to children and families in the Children’s Outpatient Clinic (COP) within the Outpatient Services Division. Services focus on trauma-affected youth and families, with options for in-office or community-based intervention. Practice emphasizes recovery-focused, evidence-based, family-centered approaches to enhance coping, self-management, and social supports. Responsibilities include collaboration with psychiatry, Behavioral Health Case Managers, and other service providers; documentation and coordination when referrals to additional services are needed; and delivering up to 1,410 annual client-facing hours in a clinic-based setting. Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related field required
- Knowledge of DSM-IV and ICD-9 diagnostic codes
- Basic knowledge of psychotropic medications
- Must have sufficient clinical knowledge to provide clinical intervention with adults and children who manifest a range of psychopathology, utilizing various treatment approaches including individual, family play, and group therapy, individual psychopathology and normal childhood development
- Must have a willingness to learn approaches with which staff are less familiar as required
- Must acquire knowledge of community resources
