Counselor - Capps Middle School

Guidance Counselor at Capps Middle School (Secondary School). Responsibilities include aiding students in course and subject selection, orienting students to school procedures and opportunities, maintaining student records, resolving educational handicaps, identifying and developing student abilities, preventing dropouts, providing college and potential employer information, making admissions and scholarship recommendations, guiding participation in school and community activities, assisting in career evaluations, administering testing programs, individual counseling for personal issues, collaborating with parents, interpreting the guidance program to the community, and providing in-service training for teachers and student teachers. Ten-month basis with salary to be established by the Board of Education; performance evaluated annually. Requires an active guidance counselor certificate and a Master’s degree with at least three years of teaching experience; alternative qualifications may be acceptable.
