Job Summary
The school counselor uses leadership, advocacy and collaboration to meet students’ developmental, educational and social-emotional needs; delivers the guidance curriculum through group sessions, conducts small counseling groups, coordinates peer mentors, and provides individual planning and responsive services. Responsibilities include assisting with student placement and career development, consulting with parents and school staff, maintaining and developing the counseling program, and supporting data-driven program evaluation and staff development to promote student success.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counselor education
- Valid Texas counseling certificate
- Minimum three years classroom teaching experience
- Knowledge of Counseling theories, counselor ethics and school counseling procedures, including, student appraisal, and career development
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
