Job Summary
Guidance counselor role within ALABASTER CITY SCHOOLS: develop and implement a school guidance and counseling program; define and interpret the program to students, teachers, parents, administrators, and community members; coordinate registration of new students and orient them to procedures and opportunities; assist students in creating a high school curriculum plan and document annually; assist in placing students with special needs in appropriate educational settings; manage student records and testing programs; prepare reports on testing results; provide individual and group counseling to promote personal growth; establish relationships with employers, agencies, and institutions to support students; coordinate follow-up activities and engage in professional development; nine-and-a-half-month contract with placement on current salary schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in guidance and counseling
- Eligible for a valid teacher's certificate with endorsement in counseling and guidance
