Job Summary

Provide high-quality, confidential counselling intervention to individuals with vision loss, conducting initial assessments and establishing tailored service plans. Deliver information, advice, and guidance throughout the client's sight loss journey while evaluating program effectiveness and client progress. Develop structured counselling sessions, manage caseloads, and respond promptly to crises involving high-risk behaviors. Document all interactions at professional standards and coordinate referrals to internal and external agencies as needed. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to ensure ethical boundaries and effective communication.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in counselling, therapy or mental health
  • Minimum three years of experience working with individuals with a disability in a rehabilitation setting
  • Lived experience or experience working with individuals with a disability in a rehabilitation or community setting
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • Provides services in a variety of locations, including the clients' homes, places of work, community locations, etc
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • The successful candidate will be required to complete a standard Vulnerable Sector Check

Desired Qualifications

  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and vision loss is considered an asset
  • Bilingualism is an asset
  • Master's degree in counselling is considered an asset
