Job Summary
Provide crisis and brief intervention services, information, assessment and referral to clients of WOCRC. Conduct crisis intervention via telephone contacts and walk-ins; provide brief and short-term counselling using evidence-based techniques; connect clients with internal and community resources; assess risk and provide follow-up; facilitate education and support groups; advocate for clients; participate in coordination, referral networks, and training; maintain documentation and statistics; contribute to policy and service coordination; engage in community education and public relations activities; support students and volunteers as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent in education and training
- Two-year pertinent experience in direct service, crisis intervention and brief therapy
- Obtain and maintain membership in CRPO or the college of Social Workers
- Language: English fluent (spoken and written)
- French fluency an asset
- Knowledge of Child and Family Services Act
- Knowledge of Mental Health Act
- Knowledge of social services delivery in Ottawa
- Excellent assessment skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Strong public speaking and popular education skills
- Multitasking abilities
- Commitment to anti-racist/anti-oppression principles
- Ability to work well in a team environment
