Job Summary
Conduct direct service and crisis intervention for individuals experiencing urgent mental health or addictions crises through in-person, telephone, text, and web chat channels. Perform rapid assessments to identify safety risks, de-escalate situations, and establish therapeutic relationships to promote crisis resolution and empowerment. Coordinate referrals to internal and external community supports, advocate for service access, and provide short-term psychotherapeutic intervention using harm reduction principles. Deliver health teaching on coping strategies while working in teams to assist with transportation and maintain communication with emergency services.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in a mental health or addictions related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a direct-service role
- some post-secondary education in a mental health or addictions related field
- Valid Driver's License: G class
- Current, satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
- Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly
Desired Qualifications
- Training in crisis intervention and crisis resolution, including ASIST
- Extensive knowledge of community resources, service & support programs, and barriers participants face in accessing same
- Working knowledge of a variety of treatment, intervention, and support strategies
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience working in mental health
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in mental health crisis intervention
- Experience with, and detailed knowledge of, mild, moderate & serious mental illnesses
- Experience working in a community-based setting

- Bilingual in both official languages
