Counseling Intern

Job Summary
Counseling Intern will shadow and provide psychotherapy services including mental health assessment, treatment planning, individual psychotherapy sessions and possibly group psychotherapy or group psychoeducational health and wellness sessions within the Health and Wellness department. Responsibilities include mental health assessment shadowing with DSM-5/IDC-10 criteria awareness, individualized treatment plan development, maintaining a client caseload with psychotherapy per educational requirements, regular supervision, participation in multidisciplinary team meetings, and agency documentation per ODMH standards. Must have a bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, sociology, art therapy, or related field and be actively enrolled in a master’s degree program in social work, counseling, art therapy, or marriage and family therapy; coursework in diagnosis and theories; obtain/maintain CT or SWT status; demonstrate strong verbal/written communication; collaborate within The Centers values system. The Centers operate across 11 locations in Greater Cleveland and are an equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- Education: will have a bachelor degree in a psychology, social work, sociology, art therapy or related field
- Must be actively enrolled in a master’s degree education program in social work, counseling, art therapy or marriage and family therapy
- Will have completed course work in diagnosis, theories, group process
- Will obtain and maintain a CT or SWT status while working with clients
- Will demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
- Will work cooperatively with other team members following The Centers values system
