Job Summary
Counsel/Non-Equity Partner in Labor & Employment practice focused on representing management clients in arbitration, grievance proceedings, collective bargaining, mediations, and NLRB proceedings, as well as defending employers in employment litigation in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. Responsibilities include advising on union organizing campaigns, reviewing and drafting agreements (collective bargaining, employment, non-disclosure, non-compete, non-solicitation, settlements), assisting with FLSA/Title VII/FMLA/HR compliance, conducting workplace investigations, training on labor-management issues, and mentoring junior attorneys. Requirements include a J.D., NY licensure (NJ a plus), 10+ years of traditional labor law experience, and strong written/spoken communication and project management skills. The role is hybrid with three days onsite at the New York office; compensation ranges from $225,000 to $350,000 depending on experience.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in New York; admission in New Jersey is a plus
- 10+ years of traditional labor law experience in a law firm setting
- Experience defending employers in employment litigation and before administrative agencies (EEOC, NYS Division of Human Rights)
- Experience advising on union organizing campaigns and union elections; defending unfair labor practice charges before NLRB
- Strong knowledge of civil procedure, evidence rules; experience in state and federal courts
- Excellent legal research, analytical, writing, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in legal research and case management software
- Strong verbal and written communication, public speaking, and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases/priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented with ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
