Job Summary

Under direct supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist, provides and/or assists in rehabilitative and developmental therapy and support services for residents. Facilitates the learning of skills and functions essential to regaining physical or mental capabilities or successfully adjusting to physical and/or mental disabilities. Assists in planning, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy programs under the direct guidance of a registered Occupational Therapist. Treats and/or assists in treatment, advisement, and education of patients and families as appropriate to specific physical, mental, and/or developmental disabilities. Monitors patient progress throughout treatment; prepares and maintains records and reports as appropriate, ensuring adherence to procedural safeguards and confidentiality requirements. Maintains confidentiality of resident and facility records/information. Protects residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse. The role requires an Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy, active state licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, and Certification as Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). Organized and detailed in work performance with good communication skills, self-discipline, patience, and genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people.
