Job Summary
The COTA conducts client/patient treatments in home or outpatient settings under the supervision of an occupational therapist, performing accurate treatments, measuring motor function and ROM, documenting progress, and communicating changes to the supervising OT and case manager. Responsibilities include instructing clients/caregivers on interventions and assistive devices, administering manual exercises, therapeutic modalities, and functional activities, performing assessments, maintaining comprehensive documentation, and ensuring safety during patient handling (up to 50 lbs). Travel to client homes is required; travel, driving ability, and adherence to agency policies are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed by the Florida Occupational Therapy Board to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant
- CPR certification
- Pass Level 2 background screening through the Florida Clearinghouse
- Meets continuing educational requirements for an Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in English
- Able to travel extensively and possess dependable transportation (own vehicle may be required)
- Knowledge of Medicare regulations and strong organizational skills
- Adherence to safety and infection control practices
- Flexible with regular attendance
- Meets local health regulations and passes pre-employment and routine physical exam, drug screen, and background check
