Job Summary
Costume Buyer (Internal Assignment) is responsible for researching and purchasing raw materials for costumes, placing orders with fabric mills, coordinating full-package fabric development in SAP and/or Coupa, monitoring delivery dates, negotiating costs and lead times with vendors, ensuring material quality with internal partners, and complying with TWDC procurement policies. This role collaborates with the Inventory Planning Team to manage procurement volumes, communicates production status, and tracks invoices. Requires 3+ years of apparel purchasing experience, knowledge of global sourcing and textiles, and experience with SAP purchasing, Coupa, and SharePoint/Smartsheet. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; advanced degree preferred.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in apparel purchasing with textile sourcing
- Knowledgeable in the apparel industry, domestically and globally
- Skilled in international shipping processes, global sourcing, and compliance
- Experience conducting cost analysis and comparisons
- Experience planning, problem-solving, conflict resolution, influencing, and negotiating
- Experience leading workflow and project budgets
- Robust communication skills and cross-functional collaboration
- Experience with continuous improvement processes
- Ability to work around synthetic fibers, human hair, furs, prosthetics, adhesives, cosmetics
- Schedule flexibility including weekends, nights, and holidays
- Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally
- Valid state driver’s license or ability to attain one
- Experience with SAP purchasing module, Coupa, SharePoint/Smartsheet
- Knowledge in textiles or apparel industry
