Job Summary
Prepare estimates, cost plans, and final cost plans while managing tendering, procurement, and contract documentation for healthcare and education projects. Manage post-contract variations, change control, and monthly post-contract cost reports, ensuring accurate valuations and timely reporting. Contribute to value engineering activities and negotiate final accounts, collaborating with clients, consultants, and stakeholders throughout project delivery. Support junior team members where required. Projects range from £1m to over £300m, with senior managers potentially leading commissions. Experience with JCT and NEC contracts, two-stage tendering, and CostX software is essential. SOX control responsibilities may apply.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of, or experience working within, the healthcare and/or education sectors
- Experience supporting projects through all stages, from feasibility to completion
- Experience working on projects procured through two-stage tendering
- Familiarity with JCT and NEC forms of contract
- Experience working directly with clients and project stakeholders in a cost management capacity
- Understanding of the risks, challenges and opportunities relevant to public sector healthcare organisations
- Experience preparing and presenting monthly post-contract cost reports
- Experience managing procurement activities, including pre-qualification, tender enquiry, tender analysis, supplier selection and contract preparation
- Ability to negotiate and agree final accounts
- Knowledge of contract administration, value engineering and lifecycle costing
- Experience using CostX or similar measurement software
- Ideally Degree qualified in one of the following fields: construction, cost management or Quantity surveying
- MRICS Qualification preferred and/or relevant experience
Desired Qualifications
- Experience of working in Education sector projects would be advantageous
